NO DEAL ON EU DEPORTATIONS: Late-night talks in Strasbourg failed to produce a breakthrough on the EU’s flagship returns regulation, the bloc’s proposed overhaul of deportation rules that would pave the way for offshore “return hubs” for migrants.
With negotiators still divided over when the rules should take effect, talks resume today as lawmakers race to seal a deal ahead of a hoped-for vote next month, timed to coincide with the final rollout of the EU’s sweeping asylum and migration pact.
