Peter Magyar, leader of Hungary’s opposition Tisza party, has accused Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó of conduct that could amount to treason following newly released transcripts and audio recordings suggesting unusually close coordination with Moscow.

“Under the Hungarian Criminal Code, this is defined as treason – and is punishable by life imprisonment. Just saying, for the sake of clarity,” Magyar told Rapporteur.

An investigation by journalists from VSquare and The Insider alleges that Szijjártó went beyond maintaining diplomatic ties, aligning policy positions with Russian interests. Magyar claims the minister used a “hotline”…
